Subic International Triathlon 2012



K-Swiss ITU Subic International Triathlon is now on its 19th run and it will be held on May 5 and 6, 2012 as co-presented by Century Tuna. The Triathlon Association of the Philippines, TRAP takes pride of holding this international event that will be participated by not just our local racers but also by various international delegation coming from Australia, China, Ireland, Jordan, Japan, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, Macau, New Zealand and Morocco, all be vying to compete for the coming London Olympics.



Another highlight of this year’s race is the category of 13-15 years old Mini-sprint triathlon race where our young but promising triathletes namely, Megali Echauz, Batang Pinoy 2011 Champion, Jessica Salazar from Laguna, V. Deldeo of Olongapo City, Sixto Lalanto of CDO, Jumuel Patilan of CDO and Justin Chiongbian of Cebu, will be competing with some of Asia’s equally competitive teens coming from Malaysia, Thailand and China. These young athletes are also vying for a possible entry in the 2014 Youth Olympics Games.



The Junior Sprint Triathlon is an event for teens ages 16-19 years old who are contending to go for the big league. Promising names such as Rochelle Tan, of Cebu, Kim Mangrobang and Mary Pauline Fornea of Davao will go head to head as they compete for the female title. For the male division, five athletes will clash for the title and they are, Allen Santiago, Marc Altura, Javier Ocampo and Kurt Cabanilla. For the Elite division, strong athletes like Nikko Huelgas, Jonard Saim, John Chicano and Kim Mangrobang will compete with some of the world's best triathletes. 



For 19 years, SuBIT and its organizers, TRAP have drawn a lot of international exposure where top triathletes visit our country just to compete. With this level of international awareness, TRAP is so proud to announce that it will once again hosts the 2013 Asian Triathlon Championship to be held at Subic Bay. This only proves that Subic is a perfect sports haven that attracts a lot of foreign athletes around the world and the best venue where local athletes can be trained and can be as competitive as their international counter parts.
