Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters

Acclaimed director Thor Frudenthal brought to the screen once again a sequel film based on the Greek Mythology series novel by Marc Guggenheim, Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief, a continuing saga of the demigod son of Poseidon Percy Jackson. This time Percy and his band of demigod friends embarked on a quest to save the stronghold barrier of their secret haven from their enemies and the only way to save it is by the help of the magical powers of the Golden Fleece

Last Wednesday, Twentieth Century Fox Philippines opens its cinemas for the advance media screening of Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. I had the opportunity to be invited to watch it together with some media friends. I quite excited to watch it because I was intrigued by the way the last movie was made by the same production team and director.

The sequel was definitely much better compared to the last one, not only in the plot but also in special effects and over-all direction. Much so, the actors have matured and improved how they portray their characters. I’m a bit sad because they replaced Pierce Brosnan in the charcter of Mr. D by Stanly Tucci. It’s a good thing that he portrayed the character very well.

As expected good eventually triumphed over evil but at the near end, they brought the story to a scene where a demigod character was placed to allow the audience to several conclusions which I believe it posed as a link to another extension of the story that will leave everyone to another anticipation of several sequels in the future.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is now showing in all major cinemas in the metro. It is PG 13 so young teens can enjoy the movie with the whole family.
