Last June 24, 2012 was World Vision Philippines’ first run for a cause that was participated by more than 3,500 runners. That running event was aimed to help 8,000 children living in the poorest communities in the country today. The funds that were gathered from the said fun run hopes to bring a much greater impact in the lives of poor children who cannot go to school because of extreme poverty. Apparently, knowing that hundreds of thousands kids more is in the same plight, 8,000 may not be a big number after all. Hundreds of thousand poor kids out there need your help.
That is why World Vision Philippines and its partners, are in full gear of engaging as much as many kind hearted people to help and sponsor more poor children to go to school. World Vision advocates like Mark Nelson and Gelli Victor are just among the hundreds of supporters that promote child sponsorship and this coming August 11, 2012, is just one of the many initiatives to help the cause of World Vision.
PaaralRUN 2012 is a fundraising project of the Philippine Australian Alumni Association of the Philippines Inc., (PA3i). This group is mainly Fil-Aus or Filipinos who graduated in any academic institution or universities in Australia. It is organized by the Public Affairs office of the Australian Embassy that aims to strengthen the relationship between Australia and the Philippines.
The PA3i is just one of the partners of World Vision in sending poor children to school and through this fun run, they hope to sponsor more poor kids. World Vision child sponsorship program is a way where one poor child is link to a willing and able donor who wishes to help send a poor child go to school. A monthly P600 a month or P20 a day, will cover the basic needs of the child’s schooling, health assistance and livehood means to the family.

One unique element about child sponsorship is the correspondence where a sponsor is given annual progress report about the child, the child’s family and community and the sponsor can communicate with the sponsored child through letters. This special relationship with the child may also prompt the sponsor to visit him or her someday. PA3i hopes to give more hope to 30 more children living in depressed areas in the Philippines through Paaral-Run.
This run for a cause will be staged in front of PICC, CCP Complex. Interested runners can register in 3k, 5k and 10k distances in the following registration sites: World Vision Mall Booth in SM Mega Mall (4th Floor Bridgeway infront of Dad’s and Fitness First), Planet Sports Inc.
